Overall: (5)
I was most impressed by Proton Pass’s free plan, which provides the most essential password management features (strong encryption, autofill capability, unlimited logins, etc.) as well as some nice extras like password health checks and email masking. This plan includes a solid amount of storage (1 GB), too. Many providers don’t offer any free plans at all, and even when they do, they tend to be much more stripped-down than this.
Of course, the free plan is missing a couple key features, such as password sharing and 2FA. For stronger security measures, more storage, and more advanced features, you’ll need to upgrade to one of Proton Pass’s premium plans.
The premium plans offer both yearly and monthly subscription options. You’ll save money in the long run with the yearly option, though that will require you to pay more upfront. For example, while the monthly price for the Pass Plus plan is $4.99, the yearly price is $35.88 (that’s an average of $2.99 per month).
